Phillie – Our Founder
My Background
I have always loved swimming and after years of watching my older siblings zoom up and down the pool I finally got to join a competitive swimming club at the age of 7.
Swimming Champion
When I was at my peak I was training 6 days a week with weekly competitions. I have swam in the Hampshire county championships and the Midland county championships and received medals in the Butterfly and IM events.
My Swimming Career
I started as a pool helper in 2000 and took my ASA (now Swim England) level 1 and 2 qualifications in 2003 and 2005. I have taught in a number of different swim schools and worked alongside many other swimming teachers before setting up my own school in 2012. I have also taught key stage 2 school lessons in Basingstoke for over 10 years and have run SEND classes.
My Swimming Teaching Philosophy
I believe that all swimming teachers have their own style of teaching and I am always learning new and fun ways to teach something. I love my job and I love that I am teaching people something that could save their lives one day. I have three children, one of whom is diagnosed with ASC and is non-verbal. I know all too well the struggles parents and families face with SEN children and in particular, how hard it is to find somewhere fully inclusive to all needs without facing judgement from others. We will welcome you with open arms and help in anyway we can.
